Welcome to Parkwood Campus

We are located in Bournemouth, Dorset, in between the neighbouring towns of Boscombe/Pokesdown and Southbourne. Our campus and clinics are nestled in beautiful woodlands, only a 10 minute stroll to Bournemouth's award-winning Blue Flag beach, with spectacular vistas of the Jurassic coast.

Our Chiropractic Clinic, Sport Performance Centre and Open Upright MRI are located behind the AECC University College main building (car park 2) with patient parking spaces and our Ultrasound Clinic can be found adjacent to our main building (car park 1) with labelled patient parking spaces.

Get directions to AECC University College Bournemouth by foot, bus, train or plane. If you are travelling by car there is free parking available on-site and in the roads surrounding the University College during open days. We do have designated patient parking (labelled) and disabled bays outside each of our clinics. If you plan to cycle, we have plenty of bike racks and shelters available for you too.

Parking on campus 

Parking on campus is for staff and patients only and is not available to students on campus, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm. With the exception of contractors who have been given a permit, disabled badge holders, those with who let the University College know of a medical condition and scheduled visitors who register car details with relevant reception team.

Parking enforcement charges are clearly sign posted in both of the car parks and if you are visiting and don't have a AECC University College permit, then on arrival to campus please register your vehicle registration in the visitor book with the clinic or centre you are visiting/attending or if visiting the University College, then you will need to register your vehicle at the main campus reception.

Note: The parking enforcement only runs 8.30 – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, to allow early morning, evening and weekend visitors a chance to park on campus for study, talks, gym and social visits, weekend seminars and courses. Main campus reception will always close at 5pm on week days, so if you have a scheduled visit, you will need to register your car before 5pm.

Transport Links

Bournemouth is well connected to the rest of the UK and Europe, by rail, air and boat. The train station provides a direct connection to the capital and plenty of other destinations.  

London: 2 hours and 20 minutes by car and just under 2 hours by train 

Southampton: Under an hour by car, and half an hour by train.

Portsmouth & Southsea: Less than 1 hour and a half by train, and 1 hour by car.

Exeter: About 2 hours from Exeter to Sailsbury and a change at Southampton.

By bike

AECC University College support cycling with ample bike racks and shelters on campus, along with pumps and bike repair stations.  We are also able to hire bikes via Beryl Bikes scheme. This is a bike share scheme covering Bournemouth and Poole. The green bikes are available to hire on the street via the Beryl app, and can be found in Beryl Bays across the city. These bays are marked parking spaces where you can start and finish a ride. The closest Beryl Bay to the AECC campus is at Parkwood Road near the junction with Darracott Road.

By car

From the East and North

Take the A338
Follow A338 to Holdenhurst Road
Exit A338 at Littledown Avenue
Take 3rd exit on Kings Park Roundabout onto Holdenhurst Road
Turn left at Queens Park pub onto Ashley Road
At Christchurch Road Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Ashley Road.
Parkwood Road will be on your right (You will see Asia Food World on the corner)
Your campus is on your right.

From the west

Approach Poole on A35
Follow signs to Bournemouth (A3049)
Take dual carriageway past Tower Park (Dorset Way)
At Mountbatten roundabout take 3rd Exit to Wallisdown Road
Stay on A3049, go past Bournemouth University
At Boundary roundabout take 2nd exit onto A347
Stay on this until pick up signs for B3063 Charminster Road.
Turn left onto Charminster Road
2nd exit Wellington Road towards A35 boscombe spa road
2nd exit Holdenhurst Road
At Bournemouth Station roundabout take 1st exit - St Swithuns Road
1st Exit at St Swithuns Roadabout onto Christchurch Road A35
Turn Right onto Boscombe Spa road which curves round to become Owls Road
Continue on this road, becomes Percy road and then it becomes Beachwood Avenue
Stay left on Beachwood Avenue (after Zebra crossing) and then turn left onto Parkwood Road
Your campus is on your left.

By Train 

Pokedown train station is just a 5 minute walk from our campus, come out of the station, cross the road and turn right, Parkwood Road will be on your left.  If you arrive at Bournemouth train station, you can take another train to Pokesdown or a taxi from outside the station or a grab a bus (10 minute journey) from the main Bournemouth coach and train station. You will need to ask for a ticket to Parkwood Road, when you get off the bus, cross at the traffic lights, turn right and you will see Parkwood Road entrance ahead of you (Asia Food World is on the corner of Parkwood Road).   

The train station provides a direct connection to our capital and plenty of other destinations.

There are direct trains from Bournemouth to Reading, Oxford, Birmingham and Manchester. You can change at Southampton Central for direct services to Bath , Bristol, Cheltenham. You can also change at Birmingham New Street for direct services Sheffield, Leeds, York and Newcastle and change at Reading for direct services to Swindon, Cardiff, Exeter and Penzance.

We also have fantastic transport links with major airports and ferry ports in the South of England, with easy connections to the Channel Islands, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands. Airports close by include Bournemouth Airport, Southampton Airport, Exeter Airport with express transport links from London Gatwick and London Heathrow Airports.

Ferry services close by include those from Southampton, Lymington Poole and Portsmouth.

By Coach and Bus

We are lucky to have a National Express Coach Station adjacent to our rail station, which can take you to majority of major cities in the UK. 
Yellow Buses and Morebus also connect Bournemouth and Poole suburbs and various nearby towns. More Bus offers routes all around Bournemouth and Poole. The m2, N2 and U3 all stop at the entrance to Parkwood Road.  There are also Yellow Buses – routes 1 1a, 1b, and 2 all stop a 1 minute walk away from our University College.  We recommend you download the Yellow Bus network map, which shows you where the bus can take you from campus: Yellow Bus Network Map
