Course Details


This workshop is a perfect introduction to our taping theory and concepts. Based on previous feedback it is suitable for both novice and experienced tapers. The course is aimed at Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors. FMT Basics aims to teach you lots of taping techniques and the concepts on which they are based. This will equip you with the skills and understanding to effectively apply ROCKTAPE to virtually any problem within the musculoskeletal system.

Additional topics include how to recognise and manage: spinal injuries, diabetic emergencies, angina, DVTs, stroke (VBAI emergencies), how to deal with a patient who has fainted, manage a patient who has collapsed on a therapeutic table/bench, anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions), asthma emergencies and recognition and management of a collapsed lung (important for those offering dry needling/acupuncture).

FMT Basics Learning Objectives:

• To understand proposed mechanisms behind the effects of Kinesiology Tape

• To gain a basic knowledge of the research in Kinesiology taping

• To learn and practise correct tape cutting and handling skills

• To learn the concepts behind 4 main types of tape application

• To practise application of the 4 main types of tape application

Mike Grice is a Registered Osteopath with over 20 years experience in the Health and Fitness Industry. Mike started his own training company in 2003 specialising in Health, Fitness and manual therapy training (Movement Therapy Education) and also lecture’s on the FdSc and BSc Sports Therapy programmes at University College Birmingham and throughout the world in Anatomy and Intrinsic Biomechanics Coaching. Mike is a lead tutor/instructor for Elite Therapy Education, Biomechanics Education, Oxford School of Sports Massage (OSSM), RockTape/RockBlade and NAQI and regularly teaches courses for Premier League and Championship football clubs. Mike has held consultancy roles with Boots, Pera Products, Startrite, Brytespark and Convatec playing a key role in the research and development of new products and education systems. Mike regularly presents at conferences including Therapy Expo, FitPro, International Fitness Showcase, Good Health Show and the IOC world conference for Injury Prevention in Monaco. Mike run’s Movement Therapy Clinics in Birmingham where his team put all that Movement Therapy Education teach in to practice.

Mixture of OT, Chiro and Physio students with a teacher in the AECC IRC Building

AECC University College Staff vs. Students Sports Day

On Wednesday 24th April, we held our first AECC University College ‘Staff vs. Students Sports Day’! It took place on Boscombe Beach, and what a great afternoon it was! Staff and students took part in sporting games, including tug of war, sprinting, the three-legged race, and dodgeball.
