Kyle Cox

Biography

Kyle graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography in 2019 and completed his PgC in Academic Practice in 2023. During his clinical career, Kyle specialised as a Therapeutic Research Radiographer where he recruited and supported patients through oncology clinical trials, providing a wider insight into the pathway that people experience as part of their cancer diagnosis. He found this role really interesting and rewarding as it meant that he had more contact with each patient and was able to support them through their whole journey and it was a privilege to be a part of this.

Kyle has been working in Higher Education since 2022 when he joined the University of Suffolk and worked as part of their Therapeutic Radiography team. Kyle is excited to work with the team at AECC and continue working with amazing students.

Research Interests

Kyle is interested in LGBTQ+ patient experience in radiotherapy and oncology and he is currently running a research project exploring therapeutic radiographers perceptions of barriers to LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare in radiotherapy. He has previously been awarded an NIHR Clinical Academic Intern grant for 2021-22 where he began to explore this topic and worked with local radiotherapy centres and patient information centres to develop their knowledge and awareness of issues that affect this community and how we can best support them.

Kyle also has a keen interest in the role that playful learning and simulation has on learning and student experience in higher education and this is something he is looking to explore in more detail moving forward.
