Dr Hilary Walsgrove

Associate Professor in Advancing Clinical Practice

Hilary works as part of the team on development and delivery of the new MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) and units and programmes within the professional development framework, engaging in line management and mentoring ACP programme team members. Hilary also works on external engagement with stakeholders in creating educational courses to meet practitioners, health and care organisations’ and service user needs; promoting AECC courses and clinical services; student and apprentice recruitment, and can be found Leading on AECC/NHSE projects.

Biography

Hilary is a registered nurse with 40+ years’ experience of working in the NHS, employed for the last twenty or so years in a joint role between another local HEI and hospital trusts, as Advanced Clinical Practice programme leader and in lead roles within the trusts, with a focus on service and practice development for advanced practice.

Current Activity

Hilary started working at AECC University in a consultancy capacity, to support the creation of the new professional development framework and moved into her substantive post in January 2023. As well as her local work profile immersed in Advanced Practice, Hilary has spent many years as a proactive member of the Association for AP educators UK and has a portfolio of ongoing projects through AAPE UK and Health Education England (NHSE) at regional and national levels.

Areas of Interest

Hilary has a passion for multi-professional advanced and consultant practice and has dedicated her professional life to developments in this area, both from an educational and practice-based perspective. Workforce transformation to improve healthcare services and improve patient/service user care is a key area of interest, as well as education pathway developments, workplace supervision and support of learners in academic and healthcare practice settings.
