Apprenticeship Course Launches at AECC UC

Back Apprenticeships - - 1 minute read.

Today is induction and enrolment day for our very first intake of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship at AECC University College. Their apprenticeship starts next week.

We have a small but very diverse group of experienced healthcare professionals who are starting and/or continuing their Advanced Clinical Practice journey across a range of clinical settings, truly embracing the multi-professional context of Advanced Clinical Practice.

The group consists of Nurses, a Physiotherapist, a Paramedic, Operating Department Practitioner/Surgical Care Practitioner and Therapeutic Radiographer.

Dr. Hilary Walsgrove, Associate Professor in Advancing Clinical Practice, said: “We are extremely grateful to our practice partners in the NHS and BUPA.

“They have worked closely and enthusiastically with us over the last few months to navigate their employees through the application process and to the start of the Advanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship.

“We are really looking forward to working in partnership on this first run of the course, and with our other practice partners, as we continue to build and refine the Advanced Clinical Practice apprenticeship, in line with service needs.”

Dr. Claire Nadaf, Head of Academic Enterprise and Engagement, commented: “This has been a significant piece of work to get the ACP apprenticeship to this point in a short space of time, thanks to the amazing efforts, commitment and enthusiasm of our small team within the Centre for Workforce and Systems Innovation at AECC University College.

“We couldn’t have got to where we are today without Rebecca Rhodes, our Apprenticeship Consultant, who has led us through the complex labyrinth of apprenticeship development and delivery, on a daily basis, guiding us every step of the way, with such expertise and an abundance of patience.

We look forward to taking our apprentices on their ACP apprenticeship journey in partnership with our practice partners.”

The Centre for Workforce and Systems Innovation at AECC University College drives change by supporting workforce transformation, promoting knowledge exchange, and offering comprehensive professional development programs for healthcare professionals, healthcare educators, healthcare leaders and policymakers.
