MOTOmed - Exercise Bike

The MOTOmed is a seated arm and leg bike designed for rehabilitation and physical therapy. We use MOTOmed for a range of upper limb and lower limb rehabilitation, including post-operation recovery, neurological rehab, and to support general strength and mobility. Whether you are exploring options for yourself or someone you care about, contact our expert clinicians today about using MOTOmed at AECC UC.

What is a MOTOmed?

A MOTOmed is a specialist piece of exercise equipment designed for rehabilitation and physical therapy. Similar to an exercise bike, the MOTOmed allows you to exercise either your legs, or arms, or both at the same time from a seated position such as a chair or wheelchair.

Whether you're recovering from an injury, operation, looking to improve overall strength, prevent sarcopenia, or more, MOTOmed can be your key to improving mobility, strength, and overall physical function.

Choose from Passive or Active Movement Options

With active or passive movement options, MOTOmed provides versatile exercise for both arms and legs, either individually or at the same time.

Passive Movement Option

This option allows your movement to be supported much like how an electric bike functions. Providing gentle support for your exercise can be beneficial to help increase your range of motion and even reduce muscle spasms. Adjust the speed and direction—forward or backward—according to your preferences and promoting overall muscle activity.

Active Movement Option

The active option lets you introduce resistance levels to your routine. Choose from a wide range of levels to suit your ability and work on improving strength in your rehabilitation. Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a neurological condition, or simply seeking improved fitness, the MOTOmed's active mode allows you to tailor your workout intensity. Easily adjust resistance levels to meet your fitness goals.

What I’ve learned from my Physiotherapist is to never give up. Getting the right help and seeing someone that you like and trust makes all the difference. My physio is so good that I want to please her and improve for her. She understands what I’m doing and we’re working on my goals together.
