Course details

So, what are the specifics of the course? The BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Health Science degree is built around a core of biomechanical, physiological, and psychological knowledge that is then applied in a diverse range of domains, including injury rehabilitation, paediatric (children and young people) populations, sports performance, and prescribing and promoting exercise. You’ll develop practical and critical thinking skills that will be crucial to your future career opportunity, increasing your efficiency in teamwork, communication, presentation, and analysis.

Our course promotes an independent learning culture and provides you with a challenging but supportive learning experience, combining both theory and practice. To support this learning style, a number of specific delivery approaches will be used including: lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, fieldwork, and guided independent study.

Please note that applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English, or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) to be considered for the programme.

A-levels

BBB or above to include one of; Biology/Human Biology/Physical Education. General Studies will not be considered.

BTEC Extended Diploma

Distinction Merit Merit or above in a relevant Extended Diploma for example; Sports Science, Sports Coaching and Fitness, Applied Science.

Access to HE Diploma

A total of 120 UCAS points in a relevant Access to HE Diploma for example; Sports Science.

International Baccalaureate

Overall grade of 32 points or higher to include either Biology or Physical Education at Higher Level.

Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers

BBBBB or above in 5 Higher/Advanced Higher subjects to include either Biology or Human Biology.

Irish Leaving Certificate

H3,H3,H3,H3,H3 from 5 subjects at Higher Level to include either Biology or Human Biology

Course Fees

There are a lot of things to consider when applying to university, including course fees. Take a look at the current course fees for the BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Health Science(2019/2020) entry.

  • Home/EU: £9,250 per annum
  • Home/EU - ELQ students : £14,100 per annum. You are classed as an ELQ student if the course which you are applying to is an equivalent or lower qualification to one you have previously achieved.
  • Channel Islands and Isle of Man: £9,250 per annum
  • Overseas/EEA: £14,100 per annum

Bear in mind that the fees currently advertised by AECC University College are for the first year of the programme only. We advise to budget for an increase of up to 5% for each following year. All increased fees will be posted to AECC University College's student website, so don’t worry if you forget.

For UK / EU students classed as an ELQ student and overseas / EEA students, fees after your first year should not increase by more than RPI + 1% (UK Retail Price Index – RPI).

 

If you’re planning on applying for the tuition fee loan for the BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Science degree then make a note in your diary - to get the maximum loan of £9,250 for the 2019/20 academic year, make sure your Student Finance application is completed by the end of May 2019. You can complete your applications from March 2019, so there’s time.
