Make the most of Dorset and Hampshire’s breath-taking surroundings by embracing the great outdoors. With a scenic coastline, the New Forest National Park, England’s first Natural World Heritage site, and plenty of well-preserved countryside and areas of natural beauty, the south coast is definitely a place to take advantage of the world on your doorstep.

Take a bike ride over to Old Harry Rocks, hire a kayak in Poole Harbour, or take some surf lessons on Boscombe beach. Watersports are naturally popular along the coast – Bournemouth has plenty of equipment shops where you can buy and hire whatever you need, from Kite-surfing and Paddleboarding to the adventurous Coasteering.

Volleyball and Beach Polo Championships take place on Boscombe and Sandbanks beach, attracting international teams. Bournemouth frequently hosts its very own marathon, with various events to match your fitness aspirations. If pulling on those trainers isn’t for you, take a dip in the sea and try the pier-to-pier swim.

Bournemouth has over 2000 acres of gardens for you to explore (lower, central and upper gardens). In the summertime, open air concerts often take place within Bournemouth Parks and Gardens
