Looking for degree course details and structure? You’re in the right place.

Supported by the internationally recognised anatomy and pathophysiology expertise here at AECC University College, you’ll develop the skills required of exercise science and rehabilitation practitioners, combining an evidence-based approach to injury rehabilitation, mobility, sports performance, disease management and behaviour change. You will focus on course elements such as the implementation of exercise and physical activity interventions to enhance health across diverse communities, with varying physical capacities and diseases. 

During your degree you’ll not only have access to our wide range of teaching facilities but our world-class academic staff too. All BSc (Hons) Clinical Exercise and Rehabilitation Science students have the opportunity to get experience in a range of places including AECC University College Chiropractic Clinic, making use of our specialised clinical imaging facilities, and coming face to face with real human anatomy at our dedicated prosection facility.

How you're assessed

You'll be assessed through a combination of:

How you'll spend your time

You can expect to spend around 15-20 hours a week in lectures and classes in the first 3 years. With the majority of students also spending around a further 15-20 hours a week on self-directed study.

Mollie Stannard is on her First Year of our BSc (Hons) Clinical Exercise Science course. She says: “You feel part of a close community of students and lecturers, who are all passionate about improving and understanding health and all that surrounds it. Staff also encourage you to pursue your own interests and help you to do so. “When campus is open, we have access to the Exercise Centre for our own private study and we spend time each week in the Sport Performance Centre learning about Physiology of sport and testing.” Read Mollie’s story here.

Scott Batchelor is on his Second Year of our BSc (Hons) Clinical Exercise Science course. He says: “I’m really excited about graduating. We’re lucky in that this course can lead to a really diverse range of job roles. All our lecturers are from top-level professional backgrounds. They work for high-profile sports organisations and support some of the top sports people playing at the moment. It’s reassuring to know there are lots of different avenues to pursue. If you’re applying from the UK or Ireland

Essential for entry

Please note that applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English, or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) to be considered for the programme.


BBB-BCC or above to include at least one of the following: Biology/Human Biology/Physical Education. General Studies will not be considered.

BTEC Extended Diploma

Distinction Merit Merit - Merit, Merit, Merit or above in a relevant Extended Diploma for example; Applied Science/Sport.

Access to HE Diploma

A total of 120-104 UCAS points in a relevant Access to HE Diploma for example; Human Sciences.

International Baccalaureate

Overall grade of 32-28 points or higher. 

Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers

BBBBB - BBCCCC or above in 5 Higher/Advanced Higher subjects to include either Biolog/Human Biology or PE

Irish Leaving Certificate

H3,H3,H3,H3,H3 to H3,H3,H4,H4,H4 from 5 subjects at Higher Level to include either Biology/Human Biology or PE.

T Level 

Merit in any Health and Science pathway accepted.
