A well established 2 day CASE accredited short course, giving you access to the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of early pregnancy problems. Designed and delivered by a team of experienced professionals, this obstetric ultrasound course will give you a safe foundation and clear scope of practice.
Our fully equipped clinical skills centre boasts simulators (provided by scan trainer) together with state of the art Samsung medical systems (provided by MIS Healthcare) to give you the best start to your ultrasound training. Expert lectures proceed hands on practical training in a ratio not exceeding 2:1. Whether you’re a nurse, midwife, obstetrician or radiographer looking to get started in the field, this course will provide an appropriate starting point. BSc (Hons), DR. MSc. MU - Head of School of Radiology
Warren Foster is currently Head of AECC University College's School of Radiology, a member of the Senior Management Group and program Lead for the MSc Ultrasound courses. With more than 15 years of Ultrasound experience across numerous specialities within the NHS, he is ideally placed to support your studies.
Course details
The course aim is to offer an educational pathway for current medical practitioners, whether your background is nursing, medicine or imaging, in the safe use of ultrasound. You will be trained in the acquisition of ultrasound images of basic gynaecology and early pregnancy problems. A team of experts will help you understand these images in correlation with the medical history to facilitate accurate decisions in patient management.
Stage One
Two days of lectures, demonstrations, and practical workshops using models and patients. Covering ultrasound physics, equipment controls, quality assurance, and safety aspects of ultrasound. See the full timetable in the accordions below.
Stage 2
Students will have their own clinical placements arranged.

Entry Requirements
Previous relevant Health Sciences degree
Please note as this course is CASE accredited you may be asked for your registration numbers or to provide copies of your qualification
Course Fees
Stage 1: 2 day introductory seminar £810.00
Stage 2: Clinical placement within your workplace
Stage 3 (Assessment): £265.00
Please note if you are not a UK resident then the full course fee will need to be paid upon registration.
There will be a £25 charge to re issue any duplicate certificates
