Whether you’re treating weekend warriors or Olympic athletes, you’ll work competently and confidently in the realms of sports injury, performance management and injury rehabilitation.

You’ll learn in the main by self-study, and be assessed through reflective and critical writing essays. We know how busy lives can be, so we’ve kept necessary attendance at the AECC University College campus as low as we can. When you do need to join us on campus, we’ve scheduled lectures in handy blocks towards the end of the week and at the weekends.

Even though this course is part-time and you won't need to come to campus regularly, you won’t be alone. You’ll be able to speak with your unit tutors who’ll give you the support that you need to complete your course. Angelo Battiston is a Course Leader for APP Functional Musculoskeletal Health and a Clinical Tutor. Angelo is an advocate for evidence based sports chiropractors and he was instrumental in developing the SPRiNT (Sport Injuries Intern Team) programme. He co-designed and co-developed the postgraduate MSc (APP) FMS Health at the AECC University College.

Course details

All elements of the course are taught in our world-class training facility, by our actively-practicing academic staff who willingly share their decades of experience and industry-insight with you.

All of our MSc APP courses are split into three stages, and you have the chance to get a qualification even if you can’t commit to three or four years of study. At the end of stage one, you’ll qualify for a PgCert (60 M credits), at stage two you’ll qualify for a PgDip (120 M credits), and finally an MSc at the end of stage three (180 M credits).

Entry Requirements

You’ll need a recognised first qualification in line with the admissions regulations. Our course is designed for health practitioners already in professional practice and you will need an undergraduate degree in medicine, chiropractic, physiotherapy, osteopathy, exercise science, sport science, nursing, or another health related degree.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language we’d be looking for one of the following:

  • IELTS (academic) overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each section
  • TOEFL overall score of 79 with minimum scores of 17 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking
  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a UK university
  • A completed undergraduate or postgraduate degree which has been taught in a ‘majority English-speaking’ country. These are: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand,  St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia,  St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America

We may be able to consider other English language qualifications, so call or email our Admissions team and they will be happy to help. Try to book your language tests as early in the year as you can, just in case re-sits are needed. 

 

 

If you’ve already successfully completed the PgCert Professional Development (Chiropractic) then you don’t have to complete the Professional Clinical Practice unit in stage 1. Talk to your Pathway Course Leader about any prior learning as this could count towards your credits.

1. AECC University College Alumni receive 10% for the duration of their study
2. Recent graduates (2013 - 2018) receive 50% in the first year of study

Starting a postgraduate course for the first time? If you are under 60 and live in the UK, you might qualify for a Postgraduate Loan of up to £10,000 to help with your study costs. To stay on the course your fees are due annually, and may be subject to change. Decisions about changes to course fees, arrangements, and dates for teaching  sessions are the right of the course organisers - they’ll let you know if anything is due to change. Bear in mind that the fees currently advertised by the AECC University College are for the first year of the programme only. We advise you to budget for an increase of up to 5% for each following year, and all increased fees will be posted to the AECC University College website, so don’t worry if you forget.

For students to be eligible for funding from Student Finance England, they must be studying on an eligible course at a provider registered with the Office for Students (OfS).The OfS is the new independent regulator for higher education in England and all higher education providers need to register with the OfS for their students to be eligible for student support in the 2019-20 academic year. The OfS will start publishing providers on its Register from July 2018. We have made an application to register and expect a decision by mid-September 2018.
