Her Majesty the Queen

The AECC University College community is deeply saddened to hear of the news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, aged 96.

She was a devoted monarch who has provided remarkable service throughout her historic reign and rich life. She had a hugely positive impact and made a difference to the lives of so many for so long, and will be remembered with great fondness. We would like to express sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this extremely sad and difficult time.

There now follows a 10 day mourning period prior to the state funeral. During this period:

• the University College and its facilities will remain open and any teaching will take place as planned. We will review any events and activities which are due to take place in the coming days to ensure they are appropriate and respectful.  
• we will be providing a Book of Condolence in the Library for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.
• it is possible there may be some changes to University College activities on the day of the funeral itself, and we will provide an update on this when more details are known.

Many of us will no doubt experience our own grief in the coming days as media coverage and tributes evoke a sense of loss. Please do support and be kind to each other during this time.
