Awarded British Association of Sport and Exercise Science Endorsement
We are pleased to announce that our BSc (Hons) Sport, Exercise and Health Science course has been successfully endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) for sport, exercise and health science courses.
BASES are the professional body for sport and exercise scientists in the UK and their endorsement scheme is now the recognised standard for all sport and exercise science undergraduate degree courses in the UK. BASES endorsement is awarded to courses that meet criteria covering the necessary foundation of sport and exercise science knowledge, technical skills and professional development competencies required to succeed in the profession.
BASES were particularly impressed with AECC University College’s embedding of employability skills into the courses stating that:
“Employability appears to be at the heart of the curriculum and has been considered to be an example of good practice”.
Prof Stewart Cotterill, Head of School for Psychology Sport and Physical Activity reflected that “This endorsement is great recognition for the quality of our sport, exercise and health science courses, and the quality of both the teaching that takes place and the opportunities that are made available to students on the courses”.
Completing a BASES endorsed undergraduate course is the first step in becoming a BASES accredited sport and exercise scientist, which offers students the career opportunities to specialise in physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, strength and conditioning, exercise and physical activity, and performance analysis.
