Alumni Reunion 2017

AECC Alumni from all over the globe assembled in Bournemouth for the annual Alumni Reunion, which took place both on campus and at the stylish Hilton Hotel on Saturday 21 October. Over 100 alumni attended the event to celebrate and reminisce with fellow course mates, with large groups from graduating years 2007 and 1977, marking their significant milestones.

The afternoon saw a canapé and drinks reception on campus, tours of the new and refurbished University College spaces, and a tribute to the late Dr Barry Lewis. A proud moment for all as we unveiled the new Bennett Learning Space, named after Donald and Elizabeth Bennett who contributed to the foundations of the chiropractic college. Francis Wilson, Visiting Senior Research Fellow at AECC University College, read a short speech on behalf of Donald and Elizabeth Bennett’s son, which acknowledged how far the institution has come and gave testament to the parts played by many in its success. A toast to the history and the future of AECC University College was led by Principle, Professor Haymo Thiel.

The Hilton Hotel played host to the evening event, consisting of a three-course dinner and live band entertainment. Alumni arrived, dressed to impress, to a drinks reception and spent time catching up with old and new faces. The customary raffle saw prizes from local businesses, celebrating all things Dorset, including a signed AFC Bournemouth football, Conker gin, tea for two at the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel, Chococo handmade chocolates, £100 CPD voucher, and a selection of goodies from Jimmy’s Iced Coffee. The atmosphere was lively, thanks to the Brightside Band, and celebrations continued until the early hours.

Photos from the event will be on our Alumni Reunion Facebook group, so get tagging your friends and let us know your stories from the night.
