All Set for Arrivals Week?
Our ASU team have been working tirelessly to prepare the best Arrivals Week for new students. Kim, our Social Officer, has organised a fun themed event for every night of the week, which will allow you, our new students, to get to know one another.
The week kicks off with Army Night. There will be a military themed assault course where you will work your way through in small teams to win prizes.
Tuesday is another activity-packed day starting with our Freshers’ Fair. We have organised for local bars, restaurants, health services and transport companies to come and showcase their businesses. Look out for some fantastic offers and freebies! For those of you staying in our halls of residence, this is a great time to buy a Yellow Buses pass which is currently priced at £200 for a years unlimited travel.
Tuesday continues into the night with our Speed-'Dating' and karaoke event, with pizza from Domino's provided.
Wednesday is a day of getting to know the local area of Bournemouth, starting with the ever popular 'Photo Bingo'. You will explore and make your way around town taking an assortment of photos in various poses to win great prizes. Pub golf is our evening event where we will take you around Bournemouth’s night life scene. This is your opportunity to discover where all the popular bars and clubs are located.
Thursday features our on-site scavenger hunt. Work your way around Parkwood Campus in teams following a series of clues to win some massive prizes. The prizes on offer include vouchers for our local pub/restaurant Brewhouse and Kitchen, a selection of drinks (both alcoholic and soft to please all tastes) and vouchers for our bar Togglers Arms. Thursday evening is a night for dancing, so don your boogie-shoes as we bring in our local salsa instructor. There will be free nachos for all students attending.
Friday is our always popular activity day at Hengistbury Head. This event features raft-building, boat racing and a picnic provided by Little Pickle Deli Café. The evening concludes with a more chilled-out night; a hog roast will be available for you and a local musician will be playing some tunes.
Saturday closes our Arrivals Week with a long day at the beach, with a volleyball tournament organised for teams to take part in.
Wristbands will be on sale from ASU costing just £50 for the whole week’s activities. We can't wait to welcome you onto campus and for your journey to start at AECC University College.
