AECC University College Clinical Services - Interview with Patient and Keen Sports Player, Judy

AECC University College Chiropractic Clinic is one of the most trusted chiropractic treatment and teaching facilities in the country. Judy has been a patient at the Clinic for over twenty years – she first booked an appointment when she started experiencing pain while playing Tennis, at the recommendation of a friend.

She talks to us about the support and care she, and her family, have received from our Student Chiropractors and their supporting Clinic tutors over the years and how she believes she wouldn’t be able to participate in regular sport or even carry-out daily activities without the treatment plan put in place for her.

Struggling with Back Pain

“I have been a patient of AECC University College Chiropractic Clinic since 1999 having been recommended to it by a tennis friend who was tired of hearing me groan every time I lunged for a shot! I originally hurt my back loading packing cases prior to moving abroad for a few years and although the injury seemed to settle, it clearly left a weakness which was aggravated by two pregnancies.”

Initial Consultation and Treatment Plan

“At my first appointment, I was given a thorough health check and examination by a final year student intern, supported by a senior clinic tutor. This was followed up by an explanation of their findings and a proposed treatment plan. I then embarked on a course of treatments and then evaluation in the exercise and rehabilitation unit leading to several months of sessions there. I was given a series of home exercises which I continue to do several times a week. I was able to return to all my sporting activities but advised to attend for maintenance treatments 3 to 4 times a year.”

Fantastic Facilities and Excellent Care

“Since then, I have suffered several injuries, not all sport related, and have needed help with my shoulder, neck and hip as well as regular back treatments. I have had two X-rays at the clinic and been referred several times to the fantastic diagnostic ultrasound suite. Fortunately, I have not had to make use of the MRI on site but my son was sent there and spoke highly of the care given by the staff there and the comfort of the facility.

“I am convinced that without the excellent care and constant revision of my exercise programme I would not be able to participate in regular sport and would find daily life much harder. Every intern I have seen has treated me very professionally with compassion, patience and a genuine desire to help. I have recommended the clinic to many friends and family and would urge anybody suffering from an injury, migraine or just a feeling that the body’s not moving as it should to book in for an assessment. Chiropractic is not a miracle cure and does not work for everyone but I have never regretted my decision to attend.”
