AECC University College Celebrates Launch of New Sport, Exercise and Health Science and Psychology Courses

AECC University College have officially launched new courses within their specialist field of health sciences. The seven new courses in Sport, Exercise and Health Science, and Psychology, could see potential of the institution doubling its student numbers within five years.

Since becoming a University College in 2016, Bournemouth’s newest Higher Education Provider has worked to grow its reputation in the health science arena and now, more than ever, AECC University College can stake its claim as a specialist Higher Education Provider.

Built on the intuitions successful reputation and expertise in scientific and evidence-based approaches to practice, real-world experience and access to on-site, state-of-the-art clinics and facilities, the new courses are set to provide both UK and international students with outstanding Higher Education opportunities.

The new courses sit within the School of Health, Wellbeing and Performance, which is headed up by author and senior academic, Dr Stewart Cotterill. Dr Cotterill commented, “Here at the University College we are expanding the applied science workforce, creating work-ready professionals who want to make a difference. With all our courses we will provide expert training to individuals who will go on to deliver high-quality, safe practice in a range of applied science focused settings. Our graduates will be essential assets to the UK and worldwide health professions.”

Students will be able to gain hands-on training at the University College’s clinical facilities, including the Sports Performance Centre, Exercise Centre, and Chiropractic and Ultrasound Clinics. The University College promotes the use of latest technology, such as eye-tracking, cognitive neuroscience equipment and the latest Samsung Ultrasound machines. Campus developments have been proposed for further clinics on-site, including a psychology consultation centre, all of which will benefit the South West’s patient population.

AECC University College is supported by partners AFC Bournemouth, Bournemouth Rugby Club, Bournemouth Athletics Club, Dorset Cricket, Pavilion Dance South West and other local sports academies who benefit from AECC University College’s knowledge and skills. The University College has become well placed over the years within the sports and health community and this is reflected in their corporate relationships.

The BSc (Hons) Clinical Exercise and Rehabilitation Science course is currently recruiting for September 2018. The remaining seven new course will be recruiting for 2019.
