AECC Friends of the Clinic launch ‘Hardship Fund’ to help support patients in need

Friends of the Clinic, a patient advocate group of AECC Chiropractic Clinic, this week opened their hardship fund for those who need financial support to receive health care.

The fund has been set up to increase the opportunities for those without the means to fund their own care, by providing them up to 6 free treatments with a placement student at the AECC Chiropractic Clinic.

To be eligible for the fund service users must be in receipt of free NHS prescriptions and be claiming one of the following benefits:

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Universal Credit
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Income-related Employment & Support Allowance
  • Personal Independence payment
  • Careers allowance
  • Children in receipt of Disability living allowance for children

Chiropractic Clinic Lead Daniel Heritage said, “We’re hoping this fund will increase the opportunities for those who don’t have the means to quality health care. We believe that healthcare is something that everyone deserves access to, not just those who can afford it.”

Those that are eligible are asked to provide a donation to the FoC Hardship fund if they have means to and, or aid students in their learning if possible via feedback sessions, or class talks.

The fund aims to assist approximately 45 individuals during 2022 and a proportion of the funds are also set aside to cover costs of x-rays or Ultrasound investigations if required.
