'Get Active' at AECC UC

'Get active' is an initiative at AECC University College, funded by Active Dorset’s Together Fund. These sessions include a 1:1 with our highly qualified sports rehabilitator followed by 3 sessions in our Integrated Rehabilitation Centre. Gain access to high quality health care advice and be supported to make positive changes to your lifestyle.

AECC University College is committed to providing affordable person-centered care to all members of our community.

Thanks to funding from Active Dorset, we are able to offer these sessions to help those with limited access get good quality exercise.

How to book

To book your sessions, you will need an Active Dorset voucher from your GP or Health Care Professional.

Once you have a voucher, please complete the form below to book your first session.

Once you have a Get Active voucher you can book a 1-2-1 health assessment with our highly qualified sports rehabilitator.

This assessment will be used to learn more about you, your health, set some goals for you and build a bespoke exercise programme to help you achieve those goals.

Use our Rehabilitation Centre

Following your 1-2-1 assessment you will gain 3 sessions in our rehabilitation centre, where you can use our equipment and work on your exercise programme.

In these sessions you will be accompanied by our sports rehabilitator and possibly with support from our students who can assist you with your exercises.

Sessions are available:

  • Monday: 14:00 – 15:00
  • Tuesday: 09:30 – 10:30
  • Wednesday: 14:00 - 15:00
  • Friday: 09:30 - 10:30

Additional Information: 1. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing to exercise sessions and suitable footwear such as trainers. 2. You should bring a water bottle and any medications with you such as inhalers. 3. It is likely that you may become sore in the initial stages which is normal after exercise. 4. You may not feel any improvement for up to 6 weeks. If you have any questions or concerns at any time, please inform your intern or speak to a member of staff.
