Julie Currin is Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the AECC University College’s corporate professional services.


Julie Currin is the Chief Operating Officer for AECC University College. Julie is responsible for the University College's corporate professional services, namely the human resources, marketing & communications, finance, payroll, IT, data protection, estates, facilities management and catering functions.

Julie is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) and has worked at Board level since 2001 when she was Director of Finance and Corporate Services for Northamptonshire Health Authority. She has a range of experience gained from senior roles across the public and voluntary sectors, including positions as Chief Finance Officer of Shaw Trust, a large national charity and as an Executive Director of a number of educational providers, including as Assistant Principal of South Downs College.

Julie joined AECC University College as a professional interim with transferable skills gained from insight into and oversight of a number of organisations and was Interim Executive Director of Finance from October 2018 until July 2020 when she was appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Current Activity

Julie’s current role is to support the Vice-Chancellor in the leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the University College, deputising as required, making significant contributions to strategy and decision-making across the full range of institutional activity.

As Chief Operating Officer, Julie is responsible for the leadership, strategic development and successful delivery of the University College’s corporate professional services, including business and infrastructure functions.

Julie is motivated by working with, and contributing to, the leadership of organisations which make a positive difference to people’s lives. Outside of paid employment, Julie has been Vice Chair & Trustee of Bournemouth Gateway Club, a local charity affiliated to Mencap which provides social opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, since 2010; and is also the Chairperson of the Charminster and Queen’s Park Neighbourhood Forum, formally designated by the local authority to develop a community-led Neighbourhood Plan for the Charminster & Queen’s Park area of Bournemouth.
