Vijay Pabbathi

Senior Lecturer (Anatomy & Physiology)

Senior Lecturer in Anatomy and Physiology at the AECC University College in Bournemouth, UK, Vijay has worked for twenty years in higher education institutions throughout the country. Originally studying veterinary medicine in India, he went on to earn his Master of Science in Neuro-Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Bristol and then went on to earn his PhD in Physiology at the same institution, graduating in 2002. In 2012, he received the Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) Award, bolstering his reputation as an educator and as someone who cares about students’ well-being. In addition to teaching, he is also a year tutor for MChiro year1 students and supervise research projects. He received the AECC Student-Led Teaching Awards (SLTA) for outstanding teaching in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018. Students whom he has taught are now primary healthcare professionals around the world.

Biography

Vijay graduated in veterinary medicine in India. He undertook an MSc in Neuro-Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Bristol and then continued to a PhD on cardiac muscle physiology. He obtained a PhD (Physiology) in 2002 from University of Bristol, UK. He received the ‘Fellow of the Higher Education Academy’ (FHEA), UK in 2012.

Current Activity

Vijay is currently Senior Lecturer in Anatomy and Physiology at the AECC University College. He is also a year tutor for MChiro year1 students and supervise research projects for MChiro year 3 and clinical year students.

Areas of Interest

Vijay has developed the Re-Booting Cognition (RBC) Technique that enhances well-being and performance in sports. In 2009, Vijay won widespread acclaim for the RBC technique, which is intended to aid efficient athletic recovery and enhance sports performance. He has since taught his technique to the World Champions in Germany, Norway, Denmark and Belgium.

Teaching

Vijay has a total of 20 years’ experience of teaching within UK HE institutions, initially to medical students at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Bristol and since March 2006, to chiropractic students at the AECC. Within the chiropractic curriculum, he is involved in teaching Gross Anatomy and Physiology. He delivers lectures, run small group tutorials and instruct practical anatomy in Prosection Laboratory on specimen prosected to his specification.
