This event aims to support you as you start University and help you hit the ground running. The event is co-designed and co-delivered with current students using their own experiences of starting University.
Interactive activities will introduce you to key areas of the University College, how you can access information and support, key study skills and how to look after yourself during your first few weeks at University. There will be the opportunity to get to know other new students starting at the University College and learn about key life and study skills such as budgeting and becoming an independent learner.
When is the event?
The event will take place on campus* Friday 24th September between 1.30 and 5pm and Saturday 25th September 10.30 – 4.30/5pm. A draft programme will be ready mid-August and sent to all those who have registered.
*If there are any changes in government restrictions we may need to move this event online and will keep students informed should this happen.
Who should attend?
This activity is delivered as part of our Access and Participation Plan. We welcome applications to attend from new first year undergraduate students (year 1 or gateway), particularly those from underrepresented groups within the University College. Those include those from a low income household, those from geographical areas where students are less likely to go to University, students with a disability, mature students, care leavers and students estranged from their family and students from Black, Asian or an Ethnic Minority background.
Please note registration will close on Wednesday 22nd September. This is to allow us to prepare resources and finalise catering for the event.
