Anglo-European College of Chiropractic

Welcome to the AECC Student Union (SU)

The SU is a dedicated team of students elected to positions by the student body annually. Unlike other universities we are not sabbatical officers, instead we fit SU work around our academic studies.

Our role is to represent the student body in all areas of student life, whether this be organising social events or acting as a liaison between staff and students.

We have a diverse range of sports and social clubs and societies including national sports teams, Amnesty International, LGBT, Caffeine magazine and a brand new music society. The SU continually offers financial support and advice to clubs old and new and are forever looking for innovative ways to stretch our students beyond their academic studies.

We believe it is important to provide a work-life balance. The year begins with Freshers’ week, an ideal opportunity to integrate with new and returning students. We continue the year with the infamous Christmas revue held at the O2 Academy, various themed and music events in our very own Toggler’s Arms bar, before rounding off with that all-important end of term party!

The college has a great sporting tradition with many students taking advantage of the on-campus facilities, which include a gym, sports hall and climbing wall. There is also an opportunity to take part in weekly classes and join any one of the many sports clubs which include football, rugby, netball, handball and hockey.

Focusing on the wider Chiropractic world, we encourage out of the box thinking! To do this, our Insight Club organises a series of guest speakers throughout the year to allow expression and debate among students in order to strengthen our understanding of the Chiropractic profession.

Often when studying for a degree it is easy to become distracted from the profession you are working so hard to join. Our SU team ensure this does not happen and keeps students well informed on all aspects of Chiropractic. Our SU members currently hold committee places on the major Chiropractic organisations including the General Chiropractic Council and the British Chiropractic Association.

As there are no halls of residence at the AECC, the student union provides help with finding accommodation and holds a database of properties and rooms to let in the local area. Most students find houses with other Chiropractic students just a few minutes walk from campus.

The SU operates an open door policy where students – prospective or current – are welcome and encouraged to pop in with queries, suggestions or simply for a chat. We can provide you with help and advice on any aspect of student life via our student union members, NUS qualified representative and our own qualified counsellors.

On behalf of the SU, we look forward to seeing you here in the future.
