Premier League Dreams for AECC University College Students

Students from AECC University College swapped their studies for the football pitch on Wednesday 15 May, to represent the University College at AFC Bournemouth’s Play on the Pitch Tournament.

Joining over 100 other people from local organisations and businesses, the students gained the opportunity to play at the Premier League Vitality Stadium thanks to AECC University College’s corporate partnership with the club. Around 16 teams took part in the five-a-side tournament, including representatives from AIM Altitude, JP Morgan, and Trethowans.

Interim Head of Marketing and Communications, Ryan Grimshaw, commented: “We are proud supporters of AFC Bournemouth and our partnership has grown successfully over the years. As Bournemouth’s specialist health science institution, we ensure our students receive an excellent experience with us and that they can benefit from our partnerships and links within the community. Opportunities such as AFC Bournemouth’s Play on the Pitch tournament are offered out to students as they are our best advocates; they are the heart and soul of the institution and they have an active voice in our communities.”

AECC University College may not have come away with the trophy, but our students certainly went home having had a great time.

Amy Brunton, the club’s Partnerships Manager, said: “We regularly welcome Bournemouth’s bustling business community to the stadium for our popular AFC Business Club, but it’s not often we meet in sports kit on the pitch! The tournament is such a unique opportunity for people to live their dream of playing on a Premier League pitch while enjoying some networking with their peers.”

AECC University College are AFC Bournemouth’s Official Player Performance Partners, providing health science expertise and clinical services to the AFC Bournemouth medical team, keeping the Premier League club's stars ready for action.
