Free Journals

Once you have completed your search you may want to find the full text articles. A fee is charged for these, however there are an increasing number of sites on the Internet that provide free access to the full text of medical journals. Please note that some provide a mixture of free and subscription only access, and there may be restricted access to the most recent issues.

UK PubMed Central

Based on PubMed Central, this is a free online digital archive of full-text, peer reviewed research publications.

BioMed Central

BioMed Central is an independent publisher of biomedical research. Journal articles are peer reviewed and are free to access (includes chiropractic and other manual therapy titles).

Directory of Open Access Journals

This service 'covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals'.

HighWire Press

A division of the Stanford University Libraries, HighWire Press hosts the 'largest repository of high impact, peer-reviewed content.'

Free Medical Journals

This site promotes free access to medical journals. Links are provided to the free full-text medical journals available on the Web.

Google Scholar

Provides a search of scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources, including theses, books, abstracts and articles.
