Life After Graduation
Following graduation, most chiropractors choose to spend a year of employed but supervised practice under the Post Registration Training Scheme (PRTS). Indeed in many countries this is becoming compulsory.
Successful completion of this scheme in the UK qualifies the participant for full membership of the British Chiropractic Association and the General Chiropractic Council has indicated its intention that the period of training referred to above be a requirement for the registration of graduates of recognised UK chiropractic colleges. After a successful period of PRT graduates of AECC will be eligible to become registered chiropractors.
Having completed this year, the world really does become your oyster. Because of the high esteem in which AECC is held, graduates are able to practice in virtually any country where chiropractic is recognised (subject to relevant statutory board exams, immigration/employment laws etc). Many return to their country of origin, some remain in the UK and some decide to travel around the world acting as a chiropractic locum as they go and where permitted
Chiropractors can work solo in their own clinic or with other chiropractors, in a multi-disciplinary natural health clinic or even, as chiropractic becomes more accepted, in some state funded healthcare systems.
Whatever they choose, nearly all go on to experience highly rewarding careers both personally and professionally within the chiropractic profession.
